Is there any book you can read over and over again without ever getting sick of it? Do you discover something new every time you read it?
There are several. =)
1. The Silmarillion
, by JRRT. I swear I've reread this more times than anything else. Well, ok, I've only read it straight through twice, I think, but that's mostly because I'm more interested in the Quenta Silmarillion proper than most of the other parts, except maybe 'Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age.'
2. The Dark is Rising Sequence
, by Susan Cooper. I've reread this whole series (nixing Over Sea, Under Stone
, which I've only read once) almost as many times as I've read the Silm. =P I don't know quite what it is about these books, but they were classics of my childhood, and I have loved them ever since.
3. The Lord of the Rings
, again by JRRT. Don't reread this nearly as often as the other two, but it's still something I never get sick of, particularly the Two Towers. =P
, by Anne McCaffrey. And Dragonquest
, too. And The White Dragon
, while we're at it. But none of the rest of the series. I mean, I do like other books in the Dragonriders of Pern series, but those three are the only ones I reread periodically. I just love F'lar, Lessa, and F'nor. And Jaxom. ♥ And of course their dragons, too. Mnementh and Ruth in particular.
Um... let's see here... well, there are a couple fanfictions I can read and reread without growing sick of them, but I'm not sure they cout, so... yeah. There you go. Obviously you can tell that my main interest in literature is fantasy with a little twist of sci-fi here and there. ^^;
