This journal is Friends Only!

... mostly.  At least that's how it's default set, now?  It's mostly just personal rambles, either about general things or about my life. A lot of that tends to be me venting, and this is a convenient place to vent some frustration.

Comment to be added! I like friends. :)

Snarky's 101 things in 1001 days list! :D

This is for mission101 and also is just a reference for me, so I can keep track of things. :)  It's very heavy on arts & crafts and such, but that's okay. ^__^

End date: September 29, 2013

Best hitchhiker EVER.

 LOL.

OKAY. So... I drove back to school today, and you aren't going to believe who I saw walking along the side of the road.

Captain America.

Yes, you read that right.  Captain America (complete with his shield) was wandering along the side of route 23 in Ohio earlier today, wearing a backpack.

I will never cease to be amused by this. xD;
Will someone please tell me why clothing manufacturers stop selling shorts before summer is over?

Seriously?

I want one stupid extra pair of cargo shorts because of the two pairs I have, one has stains on it from work, but can I find one? NO, because the company that makes the sort that fit me best is now selling fall ware.

WHY?  Hot weather will not end around here for another month and a half! -flails-

Okay. Sorry. I just had to get that out, because it's irritating me.

so excited! ♥

:D  I'm going to learn how to ride a motorcycle in July~~!

Dad & I signed up for classes at the Harley place about 3 miles away from here, and I'm so excited. ^___^
If nothing else happens this summer, at least I can officially check off one of my life's goals.

OSU, meanwhile, is kind of irritating.  I cannot get my student ID until I'm actually signed up for a course there, and I cannot be signed up for a course, because the one course I am trying to take is full, and I am waitlisted. Granted, I am first in the waitlist line, but that's small comfort considering that classes start in just under two weeks. xP  Oh, and my student email for OSU also refuses to function for no apparent reason. I need to call tech support, I think. blaaah.

Also, I made myself a community to post writing in. It is nestofthedragon, and I made it because I want to archive all of my (posted/postable) writing in one place for my own benefit as much as for anyone else's. I don't want to clutter up my journal with lots of story posts that not all of you are necessarily interested in -- but if you're interested in my writing (it's going to be nearly all fanfiction, as I don't really share my original stories), then that's the place to watch. :)  There's nothing there at the moment, but I will be gradually migrating my fanfiction over there and uploading some things that I just want all in one place and in a better organizational system than what I have in my documents folder. It won't all be finished things by any stretch, as I plan to also put fragments there, too, as it's easier for me to tag things and search through that way than to manually go through my at times very mixed up fragmentary documents in my folders. xD;

Writer's Block: Best book ever!

Is there any book you can read over and over again without ever getting sick of it? Do you discover something new every time you read it?

There are several. =)

1. The Silmarillion, by JRRT.  I swear I've reread this more times than anything else. Well, ok, I've only read it straight through twice, I think, but that's mostly because I'm more interested in the Quenta Silmarillion proper than most of the other parts, except maybe 'Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age.'

2. The Dark is Rising Sequence, by Susan Cooper.  I've reread this whole series (nixing Over Sea, Under Stone, which I've only read once) almost as many times as I've read the Silm. =P I don't know quite what it is about these books, but they were classics of my childhood, and I have loved them ever since.

3. The Lord of the Rings, again by JRRT.  Don't reread this nearly as often as the other two, but it's still something I never get sick of, particularly the Two Towers. =P

4. Dragonflight, by Anne McCaffrey. And Dragonquest, too. And The White Dragon, while we're at it. But none of the rest of the series. I mean, I do like other books in the Dragonriders of Pern series, but those three are the only ones I reread periodically. I just love F'lar, Lessa, and F'nor. And Jaxom. ♥  And of course their dragons, too. Mnementh and Ruth in particular.

Um... let's see here... well, there are a couple fanfictions I can read and reread without growing sick of them, but I'm not sure they cout, so... yeah. There you go. Obviously you can tell that my main interest in literature is fantasy with a little twist of sci-fi here and there. ^^;

hahaha... I love .gifs

All hail the F!S Friending Meme and the sheer number of awesome .gifs I have now ganked from it. xD;

EDIT: Sorry, I embedded the wrong video here. ^^; The Total Eclipse of the Heart: Literal Version is on here, now.
